It may be safe to assume that no one enjoys studying for tests, exams or quizzes. Whether you are about to sit for your CPA Exam, or a course quiz, this is bound to be a somewhat unpleasant experience. However, with some helpful tips, studying can be a little bit more positive and stress-free.

Reducing your stress-level begins by planning ahead. To help sort out your time management, set up a timetable for your study and write down how many exams you have and the days on which you have to sit for them. This will allow you to visualize your upcoming schedule and to allocate your time appropriately. There may be subjects that need more attention than others. In this case, be sure that you are leaving enough time in your schedule to give these areas additional time. Another tip is to speak to family members or roommates about the hours you are working from home and the ground rules during those hours. Remember, although you are working from the comfort zone of your home, you are still working and need to remain dedicated and attentive. If necessary, silence your phone, turn off unnecessary electronics, including the television, and turn off notifications for social media.

It is also important to take breaks, so be sure to schedule those into your day. For example, when you are working in an office, you may take a few minutes to catch up with a coworker, grab a snack or return a phone call from a family member. While working from home, allow yourself a few minutes in the day to do the same. You may even want to schedule these breaks as a reward for accomplishing certain tasks.

Another way to help curb some of the anxiety a candidate might be feeling, is by eating a healthy meal or snack prior to the Exam. Look for foods that offer a steady stream of nutrients. Although it may be tempting to load up on sugary drinks and snacks in order to get a rush of energy, this is not the best way to obtain sustainable energy. Rather, look for snacks that will keep you feeling energized for a longer time frame and will not cause you to crash later. Now, go conquer!
