The Prometric Test Center located at 5709 W. Sunset Hwy, Suite 216, Spokane, WA is temporarily closed due to construction. The site is scheduled to reopen April 8, 2024. You will be unable to schedule exams during this time. We will notify all Washington CPA Exam candidates of any changes to this date and when you can begin scheduling at the site again.

CPA Exam Candidates:

The Maryland Board of Accountancy has outsourced the application processing, eligibility determination, and score reporting for the Uniform CPA Examination to the NASBA’s CPA Examination Services (CPAES).

CPA Examination Services will start accepting Education Evaluation Applications and Exam Section Applications on January 22, 2024. Your CPA Examination application and historical testing information will be transferred from the previous application system into NASBA’s online application system, CPA Portal. To apply for sections of the CPA Examination online, please follow the steps below.

• Review the features available for the new CPA Portal at https://nasba.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/Your-New-CPA-Portal-and-Features-83023-1.pdf.
• Log into your OKTA account at https://okta.nasba.org.
• You will then click the CPA Portal Button.
• Next, you will click the Apply Now button.
• Finally, you will complete the Exam Section Application.

CPA Exam Candidates:

The Maryland Board of Accountancy has outsourced the application processing, eligibility determination, and score reporting for the Uniform CPA Examination to NASBA’s CPA Examination Services (CPAES).

In preparation for the transition, the Maryland Board has stopped taking applications as of December 31, 2023.  

All payment coupons will need to be paid before January 12, 2024. These payment coupons will no longer be valid after January 12, 2024. Payments can be made by logging into your NASBA CPA Candidate Account.

CPA Examination application and historical testing information for applicants will be transferred from the previous application system into NASBA’s online application system, CPA Portal. 

The full transition will be completed, and CPA Examination Services will begin processing applications on January 22, 2024.

CPA Exam Candidates:

CPA Evolution is almost here! December 15 marked the end of BEC and testing for 2023. Starting January 10, CPA Examination testing will resume, which marks the start of CPA Evolution and the most significant change to the CPA Exam since computerization. As part of CPA Evolution, new Exam Disciplines will be available for candidates to take in 2024. The new Disciplines reflect three pillars of the CPA profession: 

• Business analysis and reporting (BAR)
• Information systems and controls (ISC)
• Tax compliance and planning (TCP)

During this transition period, candidates can continue to apply for sections, including the new Disciplines, and schedule for 2024 testing dates. Candidates with existing credit on January 1, 2024, will be given until June 30, 2025, to complete any remaining sections.  

Score release dates for 2024 are available through the AICPA here. We understand the inconvenience of the 2024 score holds; however, it is a necessary part of the high-stakes testing process when moving to a new Exam format. Please know we have done everything we can to include as many score release dates as possible, while also maintaining the integrity of the Exam and the value of the CPA designation.

We anticipate a more typical Exam schedule and score release timeline for the Core sections after 2024. Currently, we are unable to determine the Exam schedule and score release timeline for the Discipline sections post-2024. The CPA Exam Transition FAQs page contains more information regarding the score holds.

CPA Exam Candidates:

When creating user accounts for systems such as the CPA Portal, we recommend using a personal email address instead of a work or college address. Many colleges will discontinue email addresses a few months after graduation, and if you change your place of work, you will typically lose access to that email. Access issues can occur with accounts connected to inactive email addresses when you need to send an email to reactivate an account or reset a password.

Specifically, when creating OKTA (CPA Portal) accounts, candidates should use a personal email and only create one account. Instead of creating another account, if you need to update to a personal email address, click on your name in the upper right corner of your homepage, then ‘My Profile’, then click ‘Edit’ in the ‘Personal Information’ box. You can update your primary email, the system will send you an email, and after you click the link in the email, this will update your Okta username.

In preparation for CPA Evolution, the Gateway System will be unavailable from August 25, 2023 to August 28, 2023. The system will be available on August 29, 2023.

You WILL NOT have access to your NASBA CPA Portal account during this time. If you are scheduled to take the CPA Exam during this time, please print or download your Notice to Schedule (NTS) form before the scheduled outage. If you do not have a NTS form, you will not be able to take the test.

Please review your score information for the August 23 score release before the system outage. You will not be able to review your score information through your NASBA CPA Portal account during the system outage.

Also, please keep in mind the Gateway system will be completely unavailable. Neither NASBA nor your accountancy board will have access to your NTS information.

Required documents to include with the application vary by jurisdiction and may include but are not limited to: Transcripts, SSN Affidavit, Proof of Residency, Notary Form, Photo, Certificate of Enrollment, Request for Testing Accommodations and Cheating Policy, and any other documentation required by your State Board of Accountancy.

Please note: If your transcripts and/or other required documents are not received by the last day to apply, your application is considered incomplete and may not be processed.

The NEW NASBA Application Dashboard and CPA Portal have launched! If you are having trouble accessing your NASBA Application Dashboard or your CPA Portal, here are some helpful tips:

• Do not use Google Chrome when trying to access your NASBA Application Dashboard/CPA Portal. The new platform does not work properly within Chrome. We suggest Firefox or Microsoft Edge.
• Make sure you are entering your Jurisdiction ID and not your National Candidate ID.
• When entering your Jurisdiction ID, please leave off the leading zero(s) unless you are a candidate of Maryland or Texas.
• You only have 5 attempts to match your existing candidate record within your NASBA Application Dashboard.  If you have exhausted all 5 attempts, please call us at 1-800-CPA-EXAM, or email your state coordinator directly.

To all International CPA Candidates:

We recognize that ongoing travel restrictions, test center closures and other factors continue to make it difficult for you to take the U.S. CPA Examination as planned in the Asia Pacific region. To support you on your pathway to CPA licensure, and to maintain your health and safety, we are now extending administration of the Exam in the Republic of Korea and allowing candidates in other countries in Asia to also test in Japan until December 31, 2021.

Qualified candidates may schedule to take any U.S. CPA Exam section through December 31, 2021, in Japan or the Republic of Korea. Any CPA candidate may also continue to schedule at the Guam Prometric Test Center as it remains open and available for testing.

To test in Japan or the Republic of Korea, you must be an eligible CPA Examination candidate with valid citizenship or long-term residency in one of the following countries, territories and areas:

• China
• Hong Kong
• Japan
• Macau
• Mongolia
• Republic of Korea
• Republic of Singapore
• Republic of the Philippines
• Taiwan
• United States of America

Candidates testing at international testing centers must pay an examination administration fee before scheduling with Prometric. To do so, please log into your NASBA CPA Candidate Account portal and select “International Administration.”
