In the spirit of paperless, efficient and eco-friendly processes, State Boards may want to consider using the ALD to serve the purpose of the conventional Interstate Exchange of Examination and Licensure Information forms that are typically required when processing a Reciprocity license application. All of the licensing history and in most cases, the disciplinary history, is available in the ALD for all participating states.
Unless the destination Board requires exam scores for Reciprocity license applications, everything you need to verify someone’s license history should be available in the ALD for the participating states. To help facilitate the use of the ALD in this manner, NASBA has recently added a new, convenient feature in the ALD that generates a PDF of a licensee’s record including all of the information housed in the ALD for that licensee. The PDF license record can then be printed off and added to an applicant’s file in place of the Interstate Exchange form or could be saved as a digital file and attached to an electronic record in a Board’s system, depending on each Board’s policies and platform.
For those State Boards that require exam scores for Initial Transfer of Grades applicants and Reciprocity applicants, talk to Pat Hartman about using the NASBAstore’s Grade Transfer service as an option for electronically handling grades transfers instead of requiring the mailed paper forms. Together, with the ALD for license and disciplinary history and the NASBAstore for exam scores, the entire paper-based Interstate Exchange process can be streamlined and moved online creating a more paperless, efficient and convenient process for State Board staff and license applicants.
