Is your State Board of Accountancy looking for a new way to bring ethics training to your licensees? Would you like to offer a course to your practitioners to help them avoid ethical violations in the future? If so, NASBA’s Center for the Public Trust’s (CPT) Ethical Leadership Training (ELT) program could be your answer.

The CPT’s ELT program is designed to help professionals identify ethical issues, resolve ethical dilemmas, and create an environment that promotes the highest standard of ethical behavior in their jurisdiction. The ELT currently serves as the remediation of choice for 15 Boards of Accountancy as part of their disciplinary settlement agreements with licensees that have violated accountancy board regulations.

The ELT program is designed to provide tools and resources to guide ethical decision making and encourage changes in future behavior. Easy to implement, the ELT carries no cost to the accountancy boards as the licensee pays the related costs to participate in the program. The training experience is structured as a three-module program, with an optional fourth module customized with your board’s state-specific ethics. The tracking and reporting components provide accountancy boards with accurate information on a participant’s pass rate. In fact, pass rates are customizable by each board. Upon successful completion of the ethics training, the participant receives a certificate indicating their success.

Ethical decision making in the workplace as a Certified Public Accountant can be challenging. It requires clarity of values along with accountability, critical thinking skills, professionalism, and trust. Let the CPT help train your licensees as they strive for ethical behavior in business.
