Stroll the streets dotted with 19th century homes, visit the antebellum Church of the Cross built in 1854. Lunch will be at the Cottage House of Bluffton.

Next, you will visit the Bluffton Oyster Company, the last working oyster factory in SC. Truly a piece of history- The Bluffton Oyster Company sits on reclaimed land, built up by more than a hundred years of discarded shells from previous shucking operations. The oyster business thrived in early Bluffton and throughout the 1920’s, with five different oyster operations in the area.

Group Tour – Gullah by the Sea **

Spend the morning with fourth generation Gullahs, descendants of West African slaves who worked the rice and cotton fields before they were freed. Gullahs lived in isolation for generations, allowing them to maintain their African culture longer than any slave descendants in America. Hear firsthand stories of traditional foods, family life and the unique Gullah language. Highlights include the old one-room schoolhouse, Plantation Tabby Ruins, and the historic marker of the First Freedom Village.

After lunch at the South Carolina Yacht Club, take in the sights and sounds of beautiful South Carolina Lowcountry on a relaxing boat cruise. The tidal creeks offer great opportunities to see dolphins while herons, ibis, wood stork, bald eagle and osprey dot this Lowcountry landscape.

8:30 am – 3:00pm
Golf – Port Royal Golf Club **

The Port Royal Golf Club was designed in 1967 by noted architects George W. Cobb and Willard C. Byrd and redesigned in 1994 by Pete Dye. The course is located on the scenic marsh side of the Port Royal Plantation and cuts through beautiful strands of magnolia and live oaks. This course sets atop former Civil War grounds and features historical markers throughout. Although tee-shots have generous fairways, approach shots require accuracy to the well-protected greens.
