Executive Secretary of NY Board for Public Accountancy to Join Executive Team NASHVILLE, TN (December 2, 2011) –The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), an association dedicated to enhancing the effectiveness of the country’s 55 state boards of accountancy, has today named Daniel J. Dustin, CPA, as its Vice President of State Board Relations. He will join NASBA on January 1, 2012, upon the retirement of David A. Costello, NASBA’s current President and CEO, and the succession of Ken L. Bishop to President and CEO. Mr. Dustin currently serves as Executive Secretary of the New York State Board for Public Accountancy. Appointed by the New York State Board of Regents in 1998, he is responsible for professional licensing, practice and conduct, including professional discipline of Certified Public Accountants and Public Accountants in New York. A key point person in the regulatory process, Dustin monitors the evolution of professional practice at national and state levels, and develops and drafts proposed legislation and amendments to New York State accountancy rules and regulations. NASBA’s Vice President of State Board Relations will serve as an advocate for state boards of accountancy and find new ways and opportunities to provide support and service to its member boards. “Dan will be a great addition to the NASBA team and has the exact qualities and attributes to fulfill this new position which will ensure enhanced advocacy for state boards. His work and influence as Executive Secretary of the New York State Board for Public Accountancy is indicative of the skills and leadership he will bring to NASBA on behalf of our member boards,” said incoming President and CEO Ken L. Bishop. The 2010 recipient of the prestigious Lorraine P. Sachs Standard of Excellence Award for distinction in accountancy regulation and public protection, Dustin is former chair of NASBA’s CPA Examination and Administration Committee, Accountancy Licensee Database Task Force and Executive Directors Committee. He also served as a member of the AICPA’s Peer Review Task Force and Board of Examiners, including having chaired the BOE’s Operations Committee. “Dan Dustin is the fitting complement to NASBA’s executive staff. His extensive knowledge and experience in government and particularly in accountancy board matters will help NASBA meet more comprehensively its principal mandate to help boards be more effective. Dan is a professional, but moreover a servant for the public interest,” said NASBA President and CEO, David A. Costello. Current Councilman for the town of Colonie, New York, Dustin has served on the Board of Directors of North Colonie Youth Baseball, the Board of Directors of the Mohawk-Hudson River Humane Society, where he served as Board Secretary, and the Forts Ferry Elementary School Building Council. He and his wife Becky reside in Latham, New York, with their two sons, Michael and Matthew. See Full Media Advisory Contact:
