On October 20 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., Adam, NASBA Manager, Testing Accommodations/ADA Compliance, answered questions during a Facebook Chat about CPA Exam Testing Accommodations. Below, you will find questions from the Facebook Chat participants and the answers Adam provided.

Q: I received my Notice to schedule, but I do not see the accommodations I was approved for listed on the NTS. Can I go ahead and schedule my exam and get a new NTS that lists my accommodations???
A: Please do not schedule your Exam until you’ve received your revised NTS that lists your accommodations on page 2. If you tell us which state you applied through, we can direct you to the right person. – Adam
Q: Thank you very much. I would like to contact my coordinator via email. Do they have a state specific email? If so, I applied to Minnesota.
A: You can reach Jeremy at: [email protected].

Q: What kind of turnaround time should I expect when submitting my request for accommodations?
A: Anywhere between two to four weeks depending on the jurisdiction you applied to. We recommend that you send your paperwork at least 4 weeks prior to your intended test date. – Adam

Q: Hi, Adam. Due to a back injury/surgery, I need an adjustable height desk or sit/stand workstation in order to comfortably take the CPA exam. In order for my exam application to be approved, I had to submit a doctor’s note to my State Board (VA), which I submitted. My exam application is now approved, but I’m unsure of how to go about requesting the actual accommodation needed through Prometric.
A: When the VA board approves your request for the sit/stand workstation, they will update your NTS with the approval. Prometric will receive the information at the same time. After that you will need to contact Prometric Testing Accommodations at: 1-800-967-1139. Dial 2 after the voice prompt. – Adam

Q: How would I submit the request for Virginia?
A: Please contact Mary Charity at the VA board at: 804-367-0495 or email: [email protected]. – Adam

Tip: In case you are wondering…our most frequent testing accommodation question is: “Do all test centers provide accommodations?” The answer is: “Yes. All test centers are handicap accessible and are equipped to handle most testing accommodations.”

Tip: Also, did you that there are certain items that ARE allowed in the testing rooms? Cough drops, eye drops, pillow/Lumbar support and much more. Check out the full list here: https://www.prometric.com/…/docum…/Permissible-items.pdf
