Congratulations on your new role! You are sure to learn a lot in this new position and we realize this is a very exciting time. Now that you are starting something new, you want to be mindful of your first impression as they are lasting Whether working from home, the office or both, you want to put your best self forward and show your new team you are the right candidate for the job.

Begin this new chapter by establishing a great reputation for yourself. One way to do this, is by demonstrating a strong work ethic. At the office or on Zoom, be no later than on time, especially for online meetings. Nowadays, with hybrid and remote work, the clock is more important to schedules. It is what gathers the team from every corner. So, remember to be punctual and present when the meeting begins.

Are you unsure about the work culture? Don’t be afraid to ask questions about your new environment. Many people are happy to offer advice to help you feel comfortable and adjust. You are sure to have lots of questions. What is the dress code? Can you listen to music at your desk? Is there a protocol for team meetings? What are the top coffee spots near the office? There is a lot to uncover but don’t be shy! Ask your manager or fellow staff members for advice and recommendations.

Speaking of manager, get to know yours! It’s important to be intentional about your early conversations with your leader. Some good advice is to ask for clarity on what’s expected of you so you can understandyour role, embrace your role, and maximize your role. You will be spending lots of time with this person, so you will want to build rapport early on in hopes of creating a strong work-relationship. With these tips, you are sure to start a prosperous journey.
