Tyler Nelson

Tyler Nelson serves as vice president, public relations for the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. In this role, Nelson leads NASBA’s external communications strategy, media relations, brand management, and storytelling efforts in support of the Association’s mission and strategic priorities. He works closely with NASBA leadership to elevate the organization’s voice, strengthen engagement with stakeholders, and clearly communicate regulatory and professional issues impacting the accounting profession.

Nelson brings more than a decade of experience in strategic communications, public relations, and association leadership. Prior to joining NASBA, he served for more than 10 years as vice president of communications at the Tennessee Bankers Association, where he led statewide communications, media relations, marketing, and advocacy messaging for one of the nation’s most active state banking associations. In that role, he oversaw major initiatives spanning financial literacy, education, publications, digital strategy, and member engagement, and served as a trusted communications advisor to executive leadership within a highly regulated industry.

Nelson holds a journalism degree from the University of Mississippi and is an active leader within the public relations profession. He has served in numerous leadership roles with the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Nashville Chapter, including most recently as president of the organization.
