NASHVILLE, Tenn., Aug. 10, 2020 – The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) is pleased to announce the recipients of its Accounting Education Research Grants for 2020. Faculty and postdoctoral researchers will be awarded research grants not to exceed $25,000 in total.

This year’s grant recipients include the team of Tristan B. Johnson and J. Russell Hardin from the University of South Alabama (Mobile, AL) and D. Shawn Mauldin from Mississippi State University (Starkville, MS), for their research entitled, “Options for Meeting the 150-Hour Requirement to Maximize Students’ Demand as Public Accounting Recruits: Establishing New Benchmarks in the Age of Data Analytics.” The team has been awarded $5,040 to purse this project.

M. Pamela Neely and Timothy Hungerford of State University New York – Brockport (Brockport, NY) will receive a grant in the amount of $5,000 for their work, “Rejuvenating the Accounting Curricula: How Can We Bring Accounting Students Into the 21st Century?”

NASBA’s Accounting Education Research Grants Program was established in 2011 and is spearheaded by members of NASBA’s Education Committee. The program has awarded over $160,000 in support of academic research nationwide since its inception.

Starting today through March 15, 2021, faculty and post-doctoral researchers seeking funding in 2021 are invited to submit grant proposals for consideration. Proposals will be accepted (in electronic format) through 11:59 p.m. Central Time on March 15, 2021.
