Enforcement NewsletterAugust 2013In January 2012, Daniel J. Dustin, CPA, joined NASBA as Vice President, State Board Relations. Dan previously served as Executive Secretary of the New York State Board for Public Accountancy since 1998. In his role at NASBA, Dan serves as an advocate for state boards of accountancy and focuses on finding new ways and opportunities to provide support and service to its member boards. The 2010 recipient of the prestigious Lorraine P. Sachs Standard of Excellence Award for distinction in accountancy regulation and public protection, Dan is former chair of NASBA’s CPA Examination and Administration Committee, Accountancy Licensee Database Task Force and Executive Directors Committee. He also served as a member of the AICPA’s Peer Review Task Force and Board of Examiners, including having chaired the BOE’s Operations Committee. In a recent article describing the purpose and role of state boards of accountancy, Dan wrote that “perhaps the most important role a state board plays is that of disciplinarian.” His extensive experience as Executive Secretary for the New York State Board has provided Dan with first-hand knowledge of the enforcement process. One of Dan’s primary objectives is to provide information that can help state boards achieve their core mission of public protection. As boards of accountancy strive to improve their enforcement processes or adapt those processes to the ever-changing licensing and mobility landscape, Dan is available to help ensure that boards make the best use of the services available at NASBA. |
