Invitation to Participate in a Profession-Wide CPE Survey

You are invited to participate in a profession-wide survey on the future of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) for CPAs. Participation will involve completing a one-time survey. The survey is being administered by ICF, an external independent contractor engaged by a NASBA/AICPA joint task force.

You are receiving this invitation because, as a CPA, your perspective is essential to developing a comprehensive understanding of current CPE experiences and identifying how CPE can continue to evolve to meet the needs of the profession. Your response will help inform profession-wide efforts to ensure that CPE remains relevant, effective, and aligned with the knowledge, skills, and professional capabilities CPAs need to maintain competence, adapt to change, and uphold public protection. Broad participation is important to ensure the findings reflect the range of CPA roles, practice settings, and career stages.

As part of this effort, the profession-wide survey seeks input on topics such as:

The post-licensure knowledge and skill areas that are most important to competent CPA practice across roles, practice settings, and career stages.
Knowledge and skill areas that may decline, become outdated, or require reinforcement over time after licensure.
How CPAs currently use CPE to maintain knowledge and respond to changes in standards, technology, regulation, client needs, and professional practice.
Perceptions of current CPE requirements, including relevance, flexibility, burden, quality, accountability, and alignment with public protection.
Preferred learning modalities, formats, and supports that may improve transfer of learning and sustained ability to apply learning in practice.

The survey is voluntary and your responses will be submitted anonymously to ICF. Only fully anonymized, aggregated results will be shared with NASBA, AICPA, the Task Force, or other entities outside of ICF.
