The NASBA Regional Meetings took place this June in New Orleans, LA, and Philadelphia, PA, where NASBA staff and Board of Accountancy representatives convened for updates on the organization, the accounting profession and the Uniform CPA Exam.
The Western Regional Meeting was held in New Orleans, LA, from June 17-19, and the Eastern Regional Meeting took place in Philadelphia, PA, from June 24-26. Attendees sat in on presentations discussing artificial intelligence (AI), Uniform Accountancy Act (UAA) updates, cybersecurity, CPA Exam updates and more. Both groups had the opportunity to participate in panel discussions covering alternative practice structures, NASBA operational initiatives, and a students’ perspective panel on the profession, which featured current accounting students looking to pursue licensure. Regional breakout sessions were also conducted during both conferences.
The Eastern Regional Meeting was held in conjunction with the StudentCPT Leadership Conference (SLC), an annual conference hosted by the NASBA Center for the Public Trust (CPT) for college students looking to network and develop ethical leadership skills. A total of 59 students from 36 universities across the globe attended and participated in the conference. They had the opportunity to network with NASBA members throughout the week, participate in teambuilding exercises, examine ethical case studies, and hear from speakers on topics relevant to young professionals.
