It is often asked how state boards will know if a licensee has been disciplined under mobility practice in another state. NASBA’s Accountancy Licensing Database (ALD) is a resource for mobility discipline. If a mobility state disciplined a licensee practicing under practice privilege in their state, the mobility state’s enforcement information can be submitted to the ALD by the mobility state, even though the individual is not licensed in the mobility state. How would a state board report mobility discipline to the ALD? The mobility state board would need to complete the ALD’s EA template with the licensee state, licensee number and licensee name with the Category of Violation listed as “Disciplinary Under Mobility by XX,” where XX = the board or agency that disciplined the CPA. A summary of the violation would then be provided in the Description of Violation and Other Comments fields of the ALD. Mobility discipline information can be sent to the ALD team at NASBA via email to: [email protected]. NASBA’s ALD team would then upload the mobility discipline information into the ALD via the “sFTP” process. The discipline the licensee received in the mobility state will populate on ALD under the licensee’s account. If every board reports its mobility discipline to the ALD it will greatly help the other jurisdictions with enforcement efforts!
