The AICPA and NASBA will sunset the Experience, Learn & Earn pilot program at the end of the fall 2025 semester.

The program, available through the Tulane University School of Professional Advancement, was designed to ease attainment of the final 30 hours of the 150-hour education requirement for CPA licensure. It focused on participants recruited directly by accounting firms, companies, not-for-profits and government entities, as well as accounting graduates unaffiliated with a participating accounting firm or employer.

With changing market conditions and an additional pathway to CPA licensure being enacted in many states, the program is unlikely to achieve the scale it needs to be sustainable. Several state CPA societies have collaborated with local colleges and universities to offer affordable credits for candidates who wish to pursue the 150 credit-hour path to licensure. The new pathway reduces education costs and allows accounting graduates to begin earning a paycheck while requiring an additional year of supervised work experience.

Applications for the fall semester program will still be accepted through August 1, 2025. Current and past students enrolled in the program will receive additional details from Tulane University in the coming months. NASBA and the AICPA are committed to working on thoughtful solutions to ensure that the profession continues to progress and remain distinguished to fill its vital role for clients, employers and the public interest.
