    The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) President and CEO Daniel J. Dustin, CPA, has selected Wendy S. Garvin as NASBA executive vice president. Garvin will assume her new role on October 1, 2024, as part of Dustin’s new leadership team.

    Garvin previously served nine years as the executive director of the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy where she was responsible for the execution of the work of the Board in accordance with all laws and rules that regulate the accounting profession in the state of Tennessee. Prior to joining the Board, Garvin spent 10 years serving the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA), including time as the director of professional services. There, she was responsible for several regulatory, oversight and advocacy efforts, including the administration of the peer review program and the professional ethics program, as well as serving as a liaison to the Tennessee State Board of Accountancy.

    As executive vice president, Garvin will serve as a senior executive responsible for assisting Dustin with directing the activities and programs for the organization. Her duties will also include specific oversight of member and leadership services; governmental, international and professional relationships; and risk and compliance.

    Garvin has been active in the accounting profession since 1999 when she began her work for the Florida Institute of CPAs. Since then, she has contributed to the profession through her service and participation with various boards and committees. Currently, Garvin sits on the NASBA Exam Administration Committee and the AICPA Board of Examiners. She has also been a member of NASBA’s Peer Review Compliance Committee and the Strategic Planning Task Force. Previously, Garvin was a member of the AICPA State Board Committee, the Education and Communication Task Force of the AICPA Peer Review Board, the AICPA Administrative Advisory Task Force, the AICPA PRISM User’s Group and PRISM Advisory Board.

    A long time Tennessee resident, Garvin earned a Bachelor of Science in Retail and Consumer Science with a minor in business from the University of Tennessee. Throughout her career, she has employed her extensive knowledge of the accounting profession to help protect the integrity of over 18,000 licensed CPAs and CPA firms across Tennessee. Garvin now joins NASBA in her new role to nationally support the Boards of Accountancy of all jurisdictions as they regulate the profession in furtherance of public protection.
