SHARE: On Friday, May 1, NASBA’s Nominating Committee met to select its candidate for NASBA vice-chair. 2020-21. We are pleased to present W. Michael Fritz, CPA, of Blacklick, OH, as the Committee’s nominee. Mike has been an active member of NASBA for 11 years and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2013. A former Great Lakes regional director and secretary of NASBA, he currently serves as NASBA treasurer and chair of the Administration and Finance and Regulatory Response committees for 2019-20. Additionally, Mike is a former member of NASBA’s Ethics Committee, Standard-Setting and Professional Trends Advisory Committee, Relations with Member Boards Committee, Ethics & Professional Issues Committee, Investment Committee and Global Strategies Committee, and is a frequent speaker at NASBA’s annual and regional meetings. Following 40 years of service, Mike retired as a senior partner with Deloitte & Touche LLP (Deloitte) in June 2019. He served as a partner with Deloitte since 1988, and most recently served as the national industry professional practice director (IPPD) for the Public Sector Industry as well as a lead client service partner. As the IPPD for the public sector for the past 10 years, Mike maintained the firm’s role of high-quality assurance services to clients to some of the nation’s largest public sector entities. Mike also served as the Columbus office leader of the Japanese Professional Services Group where he oversaw the firm’s audit and tax services to a variety of companies owned by parent companies domiciled in Japan. He has assisted these companies with a variety of issues including site selection, transfer pricing, capital financing and corporate governance. In 2009, Mike was appointed by the Governor of Ohio to a seven-year term on the Accountancy Board of Ohio, and is past chair of that board. A 1978 graduate of Ohio University, Mike is a co-founder and current treasurer of the Gahanna Jefferson Education Foundation as well as the treasurer of Mifflin Presbyterian Church. He has been married for 37 years and has two children and one grandchild. |
