NASBA Announces 2026-2027 Vice Chair Nominee

On Tuesday, May 5, the NASBA Nominating Committee met to select its candidate for vice chair, 2026-2027. We are pleased to announce Katrina L. Salazar, CPA, CGMA, of Sacramento, California, as the Committee’s nominee. 

Currently, Salazar serves as a NASBA director-at-large and as chair of the NASBA Legislative Support Committee for 2025-2026. Throughout her 11 years of volunteer service to NASBA, she has also served as secretary and Pacific regional director as a member of the NASBA Board of Directors. Previously, she was appointed chair of NASBA’s Inclusion Committee, CPE Standards Working Group, CPE Committee, Relations with Member Boards Committee, and Bylaws Committee.

From 2012-2024, Salazar was appointed to the California Board of Accountancy, where she served in numerous leadership roles including secretary, treasurer, vice president, and two non-consecutive terms as Board president. As a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), Salazar has served six years on the AICPA Board of Examiners (BOE) and two years as BOE chair. Additionally, she previously chaired the AICPA’s State Board Committee from 2022–2023 having served on the committee from 2018–2023.

Salazar has extensive nonprofit industry experience and is currently the chief financial officer for the California Correctional Peace Officers Association. As CFO, she is tasked with leading financial strategy, compliance and operations for one of California’s largest labor unions, managing a $40M nonprofit operating budget across multiple offices and 40+ chapters statewide. Her career includes more than a decade of auditing as well as teaching as an adjunct accounting professor for the Los Rios Community College District.

Salazar received her undergraduate degree from the University of Redlands and her MBA from Drexel University. She is a California licensed CPA as well as a member of the Chartered Global Management Accountants, the California Society of CPAs and Financial Executives International. Alongside her husband Roger, she is a proud parent of two adult children and enjoys skiing, running, reading, and off-roading in their jeeps.
