6:30 pm Roaring 20s Closing Celebration Offsite – Feasts of Fancy
Meet in lobby. Transportation will depart at 6:30 pm
Kansas City was founded as a Missouri river outpost in 1838, but the city was truly born in 1920. The dawn of Prohibition turned Kansas City into the town infamously known as the “Paris of the Plains” for it’s free-flowing liquor and jazz scene. Once known as The Wettest Block in the World, twenty-five saloons and liquor retailers occupied all but two storefronts along this block-long stretch of the West Bottoms District. The block also attracted brothels, casinos and retailers given its proximity to the Ninth Street cable car line and Union Depot, the city’s first major passenger rail hub. The saloons along the state line brought in drinkers from both Kansas and Missouri.
Embrace the history of Kansas City and sneak into the NASBA speakeasy to conclude the meeting with fine music, great conversation, drinks, and a delicious, family-style dinner at Feasts of Fancy in the West Bottoms District of Downtown Kansas City.
