Enforcement NewsletterNovember 2013About two years ago, NASBA created an email discussion group for attorneys that represent Boards of Accountancy. This group includes attorneys employed directly by the boards, employed by an umbrella agency, working through the attorney general’s office, and outside counsel retained by the boards. When a fellow attorney has a question regarding representation of a board, the question can be circulated among the entire email group (anonymously if desired). Immediate responses can be received directly by the attorney who posed the query as well as others in the group. In addition, compilations of the questions and responses are included in the materials distributed at the Legal Counsel Conference each year. Some of the topics this year have included confidentiality of records, enforcement against board members, retired status, trade names, and subpoenas of confidential investigation materials. This group is a great opportunity for board counsel to learn from and share knowledge and experience with each other. Any attorney representing a Board of Accountancy can be added to this group upon request. To join the email group, please email Stacey Grooms at [email protected]. |
